Oregon Supreme Court visits March 10
Death penalty appeal, Springfield police search,and Portland pollution cleanup
case on the docket
The Oregon Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in three cases during
its annual spring visit to the University of Oregon School of Law on
Friday, March 10 in the Knight Law Center auditorium (Room 175), 1515
Agate Street, Eugene.
The event is hosted by the law school™s Legal Research and Writing Program.
9:00 A.M. Schnitzer Investment Corp v Lloyds of London concerns the
responsibilities of an insurer in a Portland industrial pollution
cleanup case.
10:30 A.M. State v. Lisa Ann Henderson will determine if police had
probable cause to search a Springfield home for stolen diamond rings.
1:30 P.M. State v Gregory Allen Bowen is the automatic death penalty
review for the first person sentenced to death in Curry County in 25
years.
The Oregon Supreme Court consists of Chief Justice Paul DeMuniz and
Associate Justices Thomas A. Balmer, Wallace P. Carson Jr., Robert D.
Durham, W. Michael Gillette, Rives Kistler and R. William Riggs.

MEDIA COVERAGE OF APPELLATE COURT PROCEEDINGS
Pooling photo coverage is required because only one still photographer
and one video camera and technician are permitted in the courtroom.
Media personnel in the courtroom must wear tasteful business attire.
Broadcast media representatives may not move about the court during
proceedings. Recording equipment must be positioned before the session
opens and must not be moved during proceedings. Equipment cannot
produce distracting sound or light.
