Business law professor Carlos Gabuardi, of Mexico's Tecnologico de Monterrey, will be a guest of the Center for Law and Entrepreneurship and the UO chapter of the United States Mexico Bar Association (USMBA) on Thursday, October 12 EVENTS

ABOUT THE SPEAKER AND THE UNIVERSITY
Carlos Gabuardi teaches international business transactions, private
international law, and comparative law at Mexico's ITESM, popularly
called Tecnologico de Monterrey (Institituto Tecnológico y de Estudios
Superiores de Monterrey, Departamento de Derecho.) He is a law
professor and practicing lawyer who previously worked in the legal
department of the World Bank in Washington D.C.
ITESM is one of the most important private universities in Latin America, particularly in the area of business and technological studies. It has 33 campuses and agreements with universities in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Monterrey, in the Northeastern state of Neuva
Leon, is Mexico's third largest metropolitan area and one of the
richest and most important industrial and financial hubs in the
country. In 1999, Fortune magazine called it the best Latin American
city for business. Many of Mexico's largest corporations are
headquartered in Monterrey (including the huge brewery that makes
Tecate, Dos Equis, and Carta Blanca).
