Professors John Bonine and Svitlana Kravchenko to Deliver Major Speeches on Expanding
and Implementing Access to Justice at United Nations Palais des Nations in Geneva,
Switzerland
After years of working to expand access to justice in environmental matters worldwide,
Law School Professors John Bonine and Svitlana Kravchenko have been specially
invited to give major speeches on the topic at the Palais des Nations, in Geneva,
Switzerland, on September 10, 2007. The invitation-only lectures will be given at the second meeting of the Aarhus
Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-Making and
Access to Justice in Environmental Matters Task Force on Access to Justice, which
will hold a conference entitled "Opening the Doors to Justice: The Challenge of Strengthening Public Access." Professors Bonine and Kravchenko's talks will help to set the agenda for expanding
access to justice in 48 countries of Western and Eastern Europe, the Caucasus,
and Central Asia. Other invited speakers include a Constitutional Court judge, a rector of a national
Judicial Academy, and a winner of the Goldman Environmental Prize for Europe. The audience will be limited to delegates from the Ministries of Justice and
Ministries of Environment of a number of countries in the region.
