Law School Celebrates Constitution Day Monday, September 17, With Video Presentation of Professor Garrett Epps' Inaugural Hollis Lecture

Monday, September 17, the Law School commemorates Constitution Day with a continuous video replay of Professor Garrett Epps' speech "Second Founding:  The Story of the Fourteenth Amendment," which addresses the transformative impact of the Fourteenth Amendment on civil liberties in America.  The talk will be replayed throughout the day in the Law School Student Lounge.

Professor Epps' talk is based on his recent book, Democracy Reborn:  The Fourteenth Amendment and the Fight for Equal Rights in Post-Civil War America.  He previously delivered the speech on October 12, 2006, as the inaugural Hollis Chair Lecture.  That lecture is named in honor of Orlando John Hollis, who led the School of Law from 1941 to 1967. 

Constitution Day celebrates the ratification of the United States Constitution, which was signed on September 17, 1787.  In 2004, Constitution Day became a federal holiday.
