The
University of Oregon School of Law's Environmental and Natural
Resources Law Program, along with the University of Oregon's
Environmental Studies Program, continues its "Earth on Fire: A Series
of Fireside Conversations On Global Warming" 2007-2008 series with a
talk by Professor Nancy Shurtz, who will be speaking on "Mother Earth
Says: 'I'm Cool With Carbon Taxes'." Professor Shurtz joined the Law
School faculty from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
Her interests include individual and business tax law, tax policy,
environmental policy, and women and the law. She is editor for the
Media/Book Products Committee of the American Bar Association's Real
Property, Probate, and Trust Section. Professor Shurtz has been a
literature reviewer and columnist for Estate Planning Magazine since
1990. Recently, she consulted with Mills College (California) about
the formation of an all-women's law school after her article on the
subject came out in 2005 in The Hastings Women's Law Review. The event
will take place Wednesday, October 10, at 4:30 p.m., at the Many
Nations Longhouse adjacent to the School of Law. It is free and open
to all members of the University community.
