National Expert on Brown v. Board of Education Decision Joins UO
Panel to Discuss the 50th Anniversary of the Landmark Desegregation Case
Did the landmark 1954 decision end legal racial segregation in U.S.
schools forever? Or did it not? University of Oregon professors and a
nationally-recognized expert on the case will discuss the significance
of Brown v. Board of Education at a panel discussion on Tuesday,
October 27 from 4 to 6 p.m. in Room 175 of the UO School of Law, 1515
Agate St. in Eugene. It is free and open to the public.
"Unfinished Legacy: Brown v. Board of Education at Fifty" features Ray
Diamond, Tulane University professor, attorney and race relations
expert. He is coauthor of the award-winning book, Brown v. Board of
Education: Caste, Culture and Constitution. He will sign his book at a
reception in the law schoolÃs Morse Commons after the panel discussion.
Panelists include Robert Tsai, UO assistant professor of law; Naomi
Zack, UO professor of philosophy; and Gregory Vincent, vice provost for
institutional equity and diversity, and UO professor of law. Keith
Aoki, UO professor of law, moderates.
The event is sponsored by the UO ProvostÃs office and the Wayne Morse Center
for
Law and Politics.
